Peter Young

Peter Young specialises in music from the Renaissance and the Baroque as both a keyboard player, on organ and harpsichord, and choral conductor.

He had a highly successful 5-year period as conductor of the ANU Choral Society where his concerts included Handel’s Solomon and major works by Byrd, Monteverdi and Purcell. From more contemporary musical domains he has conducted masses by Bruckner, Haydn and Dvoƙák, and composers ranging from Brahms to Vaughan Williams, Britten and Percy Grainger.

Peter has received a Canberra Critics Circle Award for choral conducting and innovative programming.

In 2014 Peter conducted two very successful concerts with Oriana, The Golden Age and The Rising of the Sun. In 2015 he further displayed his expertise inearly music with another Golden Age featuring works from the school of Venice and other highly acclaimed performances.

2016 sees his imagination and musicality lead a program of old and new, sampling both familiar and seldom-heard works for a cappella chamber choir for the pleasure and information of Canberra region music lovers.
